Description
In June of 2006 I joined a Phoenix based civil engineering firm Wood, Patel & Associates as a network administrator. The primary goal of the internship is to obtain valuable corporate network experience with real tools and technologies implemented. During my internship, I have been able to analyze a corporate network structure, review, document and revise the network disaster recovery documents, implement a Polycom\Evolution PBX based voice over internet protocol system, develop a web site for the City of Goodyear (http://www.mdrcc.com), and perform daily network administrative tasks.
Lessons Learned
The most valuable lesson I have retained during my internship is how to be pro active in security implementation. All my previous research and practice has become useful in understanding the need for security in a corporate environment where short term productivity appears more valuable than long term stability.
